Elk Hunt for Fitness – October 13th 2012 in New Braunfels, TX
The Elk Hunt for Fitness focuses on family fun & encourage fitness and bike safety. The event is scheduled for about three hours, Saturday morning, October 13th. It will be two person teams in four divisions: family, female, male & co-ed. After a bicycle safety presentation by an officer from the New Braunfels Police Dept the event will kick off with a bicycle ride around scenic New Braunfels to hunt for Elk photos we positioned earlier, return to the Lodge for a fun & simple fitness activity, then on their bikes for another Elk hunt. There will be 4 or 5 Elk Hunts depending on the division. The event will be timed to encourage competition. After the bike ride we will serve a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and door prizes. Proceeds from this event will benefit the New Braunfels Elks handicapped children & veterans programs.
The Elks is a fraternal organization focused on serving local communities. We have programs that support veterans, help youth, and meet needs specific to New Braunfels. For example, we have a program providing dental services to the underserved totaling over $150,000 in value the last 4 years. The Elks have almost one million members nationally. Last year they helped over 14 million people with cash & non-cash donations totaling over $250 million.
